What
are TCF’s sources of funding?
Our main support comes from individuals
who make donations to TCF and receive official tax receipts. We
have also received small grants from Suncor and some other corporations.
How
does TCF manage and distribute funds in Calcutta?
In Calcutta, a board of directors
for the Toronto-Calcutta Association oversees our projects and directs
a programme director and the office and clinic staff. TCF provides
funding to cover the salaries of doctors, nursing aides, and staff,
and all the operating expenses of the projects. The local director
and board submit budgets and accounts to the international executive
based in Toronto. Accounts are audited annually in Calcutta and Toronto.
Do
members of the international executive or the Calcutta board receive
salaries?
No, all board members are volunteers
and members of the international executive who travel to Calcutta
for liaison cover their own travel and living expenses.
Does
TCF receive funds from government?
No. In the past, we have had a grant
from the Canadian International Development Agency but currently
all our work is funded by donors.
How
much of my donation will reach the beneficiaries?
Almost all of our donation dollars
goes to our work in Calcutta. Our administrative costs in Canada
are minimal as all officers work as volunteers and individual members
also contribute to administrative costs. Our administrative costs
in Calcutta are about 3% of the total.
Does
TCF have salaried staff in Canada or in India?
No, TCF does not have salaried staff
in Canada. However, we have salaried staff including doctors, teachers,
etc. to provide our services in Calcutta, India.

How
much donation one has to give before one can get an income tax receipt?
$10 dollar is a minimum amount for
an income tax receipt.
Can
one donate stocks, other tangible assets to TCF?
Yes, TCF has a broker who can facilitate
the stock transfers. We issue tax receipts for the total value.
