Each Day Is A New Chance To Make A Difference

2023 Activity Reports

Report on Existing Activities

In 2023, TCF continued its ambitious jackfruit sapling distribution project, which proved to be both a significant undertaking and a challenge. Collaborating with 30 NGOs across West Bengal, India, the initiative, which began in July 2022, faced initial limitations due to the recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic. However, in May 2023, the project was launched in full force, with TCF successfully distributing over 600,000 jackfruit and other fruit saplings across 13 districts in West Bengal, India.

The objectives of this initiative were:
  1. To improve nutrition for children by promoting the consumption of jackfruit, which is rich in vitamins, minerals, and protein.
  2. To help villagers generate additional income through the sale of surplus jackfruit.
  3. To contribute to environmental sustainability by reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
  4. To create seasonal employment and economic activity during the planting season.
  5. To boost the local economy of West Bengal.
  6. To raise awareness of the nutritional benefits of jackfruit.
In addition to this, TCF expanded its educational outreach by starting computer training and spoken English classes at its Coaching Centres, making a significant impact on the students. In Mongolkot, Burdwan East, TCF donated two computers to a tribal village where the children had never seen a computer before. These children are now asking for more computers so they don’t have to wait for their turn. The gratitude from the TCF clients who benefit from these services is overwhelming.
Moreover, TCF partnered with the Calcutta Social Project (CSP) to provide digital lessons to over 300 students, with TCF’s financial support. This digital learning program is giving underprivileged children the opportunity to understand and benefit from technology.
TCF also expanded its coaching program in Hotar, starting with students in class six. The program now includes 120 students—60 boys and 60 girls—ranging from classes 6 to 12. These initiatives, along with all our other projects, are made possible by the generous donations we receive from our supporters. Thank you for your continued generosity.
